Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. This week the Kindergarten children have chosen to investigate the various types of cultural dances and music. This stemmed from their love of ballet, today the children were excited to recreate their own interpretation of a ballet dancer using shapes. Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology.
