World Ocean Day at Story House Tarneit

The Story House Tarneit West campus  celebrated World Ocean Day on June 8th. This day is recognised worldwide and is aimed at informing people about the impact of human actions on the ocean.

There were many activities and discussions in all rooms.  Children and Educators talked about pollution within the water and how this effects the sea life. From this discussion we participated in a ‘clean up the ocean’ activity.  The water contained lots of sea creatures and the children removed different plastics and other items from the water that didn’t belong there.

Children also engaged in art activities by painting and colouring different sea animals to create an ocean scene within the room. Popular sea creatures included jellyfish, starfish, all types of fish, and seahorses.

The children used their fine motor skills to cut, fold and paste during these activities.
Take a look at our beautiful creations below – we are so proud of our work.  Now we know more about our precious sea life and how to be better at keeping them safe.
