What led you to a career in the childcare industry?
I’ve always enjoyed the joy and wonder that comes with working with children. Most of my first jobs involved children related activities and after exploring many other qualifications and careers, I found myself in early childhood and never looked back!
What are your favourite memories within the workspace?
One of my favourite memories was making homemade gnocchi with the kindergarten children. I had been in the room a few days earlier and a group of us were having a conversation with the children about pasta and we decided to make some in the room. It was so much fun to be involved and enjoy watching the children engage in something that they then had for lunch that day.
Who Inspires you and why?
I am inspired daily by my daughter. Before I became a mum I always vowed to treat every child like they were my own and try and see each situation from a parents perspective but since having my daughter, my perspective just expanded. My daughter inspires me to challenge my thinking, to ask questions and to think outside the box and explore things from a child’s perspective.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about open-ended, child-led education. I really enjoy giving children open ended opportunities and seeing where they can take them. I love to see the thought processes happen and the different results you get from different children.
