MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER RACHEL HOSKING

What led you to a career in the childcare industry?
I completed a program in an indigenous community through high school and one of the elements was volunteering in an early learning service, from then on I knew that i wanted to work with children and be apart of their learning journey.

One of my favorite moments was having a conversation with one of our Pre kinder children where he asked if i could please bring a cow to work because he had heard i lived in the country. We spent time together planning how i would drive a cow to Bundoora, how we would look after it once i got it to the centre and how i would get it back home.

Who Inspires you and why?
Friedrich Froebel because he believed that young children needed their own place to learn in that was separate to adult he is credited to having the first kindergarten. he famously said : “Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.”

What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about education and ensuring that children get the best possible start to their leaning journey.

We believe that the value of play is of utmost importance to children as it is their way of learning about their world.  While children play they are able to experiement with new ideas, test theories and their understanding of concepts, express their creative ability, release their emotions and share their feelings.  While engaging in play children are developing across all domains and creating the building blocks for their future.
