Jessica McIntosh

Welcome to Story House Pimpama, my name is Jessica ‘Jess’ McIntosh and I ‘am the Service Manager. I have been in the early childhood sector for 18 years and 14 of these years I have fulfilled Service Manager roles. I ‘am a blessed mother of 2 boys Jet (14) and Javyn (5), as a family we enjoy rugby league, camping, motorbike riding and exploring the outdoors.

Early childhood education is my passion, it is something I have been connected with since I was a young teen. Early learning is the foundation for future success in life and the first five years are the most important part of children’s growth. I believe each child is an individual with their own capabilities and aspirations. I believe that children are resourceful learners who are capable of constructing their own knowledge of the world around them. Each child is important and has individual needs and rights. I will always act in the best interest of the child at all times and I believe play is essential to young children’s learning. I believe that children have a right to: always feel and be safe, physically and emotionally, to be unique and express their ideas and feelings naturally and freely.

I believe being an inspirational leader and role model creates a harmonious environment and ensures all team members feel valued and supported to reach their full potential meaning the centre will reach its full potential. As a leader I focus on getting to know all of my team members and finding each of their strengths and to continue developing and supporting these. I believe every educator is different and offers different skills that will enable our team to be successful as we share these together. I strive as a leader to ensure all of my team members feel supported, valued, respected and acknowledged, this in turn provides a harmonious, supportive and loving environment for all of our families, children and community members.

I believe families are the most important part of a child’s life and feel if as a centre we can meet each families individualised needs, we can provide an ideal learning environment for children. I love getting to know each and every family that walks through my centre doors and ensure they feel supported, acknowledged and respected. I believe this will allow positive relationships between the service and families.
