MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER

My name is Holly McDonnell and I am the Centre Director here at Koala Childcare and Early Learning Centre Mt Waverley.

I hold my Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and have had 13 years’ experience in the field of early childhood care and education, the last 6 being with Koala. I have worked as an assistant, room leader, assistant director and now as a centre director at this amazing centre.

Here at Koala, we believe our role as educators is to support, encourage, and direct all children to become confident and involved learners. To create an environment where all children feel safe, secure and have strong relationships with our educators.

We provide a play base, child initiated program where the children’s interests are our focus to scaffold into further learning opportunities.

We are a family orientated centre with a wonderful home like feel when you walk in that front door. All our educators are extremely welcoming to all families and the wider community. We pride ourselves on building professional relationships with all families and encourage parent participation into our curriculum.

We are lucky to have a beautiful natural outdoor environment for the children to explore, investigate and develop their senses.

We promote being and belonging through our diverse backgrounds, cultural understanding and respect for every child’s religion and beliefs.

Most of all we like to ensure that all our children, educators and families enjoy their time with us, whilst growing, learning and having fun along the way.

We welcome you to drop in and have a look around our wonderful centre at anytime.

TAILORED LEARNING AND CURRICULUM FOR EACH AGE GROUP

We believe that the value of play is of utmost importance to children as it is their way of learning about their world.  While children play they are able to experiement with new ideas, test theories and their understanding of concepts, express their creative ability, release their emotions and share their feelings.  While engaging in play children are developing across all domains and creating the building blocks for their future.

Baby Nursery Child Care

The Kindergarten curriculum continues to emphasise play based learning, however offers additional intentional learning times where the focus is on literacy and numeracy, socialisation, self-regulation and independence.
