Fun in the Sun – Beach Kinder at Southport
We’re not sure who was more excited about kicking off the Beach Kinder Program at Kids House Southport recently – the children or the educators!
We partner with you to provide a safe, quality, family-centred learning environment where every child is respected and nurtured. We continually develop our skills and explore new ways to enrich your child’s early learning experience.
Indoor and outdoor play based experiences are an integral part of our program. Educators plan a diverse range of experiences to create opportunities for your child in both structured and spontaneous play.
Our programs are inspired by the wisdom and teachings of early childhood theorists and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and aim to develop children’s emotional, social and cognitive intelligence.
The Kindergarten curriculum continues to emphasise play based learning, however offers additional intentional learning times where the focus is on literacy and numeracy, socialisation, self-regulation and independence.
What led you to a career in the childcare industry?
Romper Room…watching this program as a young girl, inspired me to become an early childhood educator. I would sit with my teddies and dollies when i was a young girl and pretend to be their teacher. Starting my career in child care at the age of 18, i have always been passionate about the development and well being of young children. Many, many years later the enthusiasm has not altered. I have the best career.
What are your favourite memories within the workspace?
A new Mum, leaving her daughter for the first time in child care, giving me a big hug and thanking me for the support she felt. The overwhelming feeling of trust this Mamma instilled in us, was a wonderful feeling and a memory that wont be forgotten.
Who Inspires you and why?
My team of educators…always enthusiastic and passionate about the children in their care. Always creating exciting environment for the children and watching them involve in their learning. Always inspires me.
What are you passionate about?
Health and Well being in early childhood. Providing a balance of good physical health, feelings of happiness, satisfaction and successful social functioning. It influences the way children interact in their environments. A strong sense of well being provides children with confidence and optimism which maximise their learning potential.
What type of leadership style do you have?
I am very understanding and fair and believe we are all equal as a team. I love to help out wherever i am needed and enjoy stepping back into the rooms and engaging with the children. I am a very positive person and love to share my enthusiasm with everyone around me.
What makes your service such an amazing service?
The relationship I and my team of educators have with our families, creating a close community within our service, inspires me and excites me to come to work every day.
What are your goals for the service over the next 12 months?
I would like to create a beach themed, relaxed atmosphere at our service. We live in the most beautiful area of Australia and would like to share the benefits of sun, sea, beach air and surf. We will create Beach Kinder outings, allowing the children to walk to our local beach on a weekly basis providing rich learning environments. We will continue our journey of the inter generational relationship between young and old, visiting the aged care monthly, providing an immense sense of love and satisfaction to both parties. And lastly, my goals for the next 12 months would be to continue to provide the best service for our children.

Here’s some lovely snapshots of our children enjoying a variety of activities at our centre and our engaged educators guiding our little ones through journeys of self discovery and learning.
Today we explored our inter-generational connections through food. We had a special visit from the grandparents today to help cook a special fried rice recipe for our children.
Our centre welcomes families from surrounding suburbs including Labrador, Ashmore, Gold Coast and Benowa. We offer a state-of-the-art facility boasting beautifully renovated environments, spacious play areas, and modern educational materials.
Our aim is to provide a secure and happy environment where children can develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language skills to become competent and confident individuals. And for you to feel safe knowing that your child is receiving the best possible care.
Our child care centre is situated in the heart of the Gold Coast at the Surfers Paradise end of Southport (nearby Chevron Island). We’re minutes from a number of local primary schools including Ashmore State, Bellevue Park State, Benowa State, and The Southport School.
