Ready, Set, Go — Let’s Jump into Learning in 2026!

With exciting experiences on the 2026 agenda, our Story House Pathways to School Program is designed to engage, inspire, and build confidence as children prepare for a successful transition to school. Through intentional teaching, play-based learning, and strong educator and child connections in shared learning, children will develop the skills they need to thrive as capable, curious learners. You will see in your child’s service the Story House Pathways to School Curriculum with thoughtful and carefully planned learning experiences. Some of these are outlined below:

  • Early Literacy & Language – Storytelling, shared reading, letter and sound awareness, mark making, and early writing experiences to build strong communication skills.
  • Early Numeracy – Counting, sorting, patterning, measuring, and problem-solving through hands-on, play-based experiences.
  • Social & Emotional Development – Building friendships, turn-taking, resilience, emotional regulation, and confidence in group settings.
  • Independence & Self-Help Skills – Managing belongings, lunch routines, self-care, and following simple instructions to support school readiness.
  • Inquiry & Critical Thinking – Encouraging curiosity through questions, investigations, and inquiry-based learning driven by children’s interests.
  • Fine & Gross Motor Development – Strengthening hand-eye coordination, grip strength, balance, and body awareness through purposeful movement and play.
  • Listening & Attention Skills – Group discussions, games, and routines that support focus, active listening, and following directions.
  • Wellbeing & Self-Regulation – Mindfulness, calming strategies, and understanding emotions to support positive learning behaviours.
  • Creative Expression – Art, music, movement, and dramatic play to build confidence, imagination, and self-expression.
  • Transition to School Routines – shared learning through group times, learning expectations, responsibility, and structured experiences that reflect school environments.
