IT'S PLAYTIME, LITTLE ONE !
Looking for ideas and activities to play with your baby while at home?
Much of your baby’s learning in their first year will happen naturally as you talk, read, make faces, and interact with them.
These fun and easy activities help stimulate your infant’s development — and bring on some adorable smiles and giggles.
FUN WITH FACES
Babies love to explore the world through touch. Allow your little one to feel the different parts of your face and their stuffed animals’ faces with their hands.
Say the names of the parts of the face as your child touches them, and direct your baby’s hand to touch their own nose, mouth, ears, and more.
Guide your baby’s hands to your face while you speak and make facial expressions so that they can get to know how we use our faces to communicate.
Extension Activities
- Take the baby’s hand and run it gently over your mouth, hair, eyes, and nose, talking about what you are doing.
- Repeat, using your hand on the baby’s face.
- Watch carefully and repeat any sounds the baby makes, responding enthusiastically with your attention, smiles, and laughter.
- Bounce the baby to the rhythm of your words, particularly as you repeat phrases and sounds.
- Use nursery rhymes as you play. They have a rhythm and cadence that children have loved for hundreds of years.
