Chirniside Service Manager Janene

Janene, Our Service Manager

Janene brings over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, beginning her career as a mothercraft nurse before gaining her Associate Diploma in Child Care and a Diploma of Business in Early Childhood Leadership. Her passion lies in long day care, where she has worked in various roles from assistant to room leader and, for the past 20 years, in management.

Janene is deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, particularly its view of the child as capable, curious, and central to their own learning. She believes in creating nurturing environments that encourage exploration, creativity, and meaningful relationships. Her approach blends intentional teaching with child led learning, valuing collaboration between educators, families, and children.

Mentoring others and supporting educator growth is a core passion for Janene. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her twins, reading, baking, and caring for her pets.

CHEF NORMA'S COOKING PROGRAM

Healthy, Delicious Food at Chirnside Park

Just like any quality restaurant kitchen, ours is fully equipped and run to the highest standards with our chef holding up-to-date food safety certifications to ensure every meal is prepared with care and compliance. All meals are thoughtfully planned to align with Australian nutrition guidelines, ensuring every bite supports healthy growth and development. Our skilled chef Norma leads interactive cooking classes tailored to each age group, encouraging children to discover new flavours and learn new skills. Children enjoy a variety of foods while gaining confidence in the kitchen. Popular dishes like Vegetable Pasta , Tacos and Chicken Masala are amongst the children’s favourites, making each class a delicious adventure! As part of our commitment to fostering healthy habits and a love for fresh food, all Story House services have introduced the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program (SAKGP). This hands-on initiative connects children with growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh, seasonal food. By getting involved in every step of the process, from garden to plate, children learn valuable life skills, develop respect for the environment, and build a deeper appreciation for nutritious food in a fun, practical way.
