Kanchan, Our Service Manager

Kanchan is the Service Manager at Story House Early Learning Black Rock, bringing over 13 years of experience in early childhood education. She holds an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management and is passionate about creating supportive, engaging environments for children, families, and educators.

Kanchan’s journey into early childhood was inspired by personal experience, and she hasn’t looked back since. She believes the first five years of a child’s life are critical for their development and takes pride in being part of that journey. Her approach focuses on building strong family partnerships and delivering a child led curriculum that reflects each child’s interests.

As a mother of two, Kanchan understands the emotions families experience when entrusting their children to care and strives to make every transition smooth and reassuring. She values health, wellbeing, and connection, and brings this energy to her work every day.

Just like any quality restaurant kitchen, ours is fully equipped and run to the highest standards with our chef holding up-to-date food safety certifications to ensure every meal is prepared with care and compliance. All meals are thoughtfully planned to align with Australian nutrition guidelines, ensuring every bite supports healthy growth and development. Our skilled chef Margarita lead interactive cooking classes tailored to each age group, encouraging children to discover new flavours and learn new skills. Children enjoy a variety of foods while gaining confidence in the kitchen. Popular dishes like Butter Chicken with rice, Veggie loaded Spaghetti Bolognese and mild Rogan Josh are amongst the children’s favourites, making each class a delicious adventure! As part of our commitment to fostering healthy habits and a love for fresh food, all Story House services have introduced the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program (SAKGP). This hands-on initiative connects children with growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh, seasonal food. By getting involved in every step of the process, from garden to plate, children learn valuable life skills, develop respect for the environment, and build a deeper appreciation for nutritious food in a fun, practical way.

Ali holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and has been working in the industry for three years. As an Early Childhood Teacher, she is dedicated to building meaningful connections with each child, helping them grow in confidence and curiosity. Ali is passionate about creating a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to explore the world around them. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, spending time with family, and discovering new cafes on the weekends.

Lauren

Certificate III in Early Childhood Education
Lauren, our Nursery Lead Educator at Story House Black Rock, holds a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and has worked in childcare for three years. Known for her warmth, creativity, and professionalism, she creates engaging, age-appropriate experiences that foster each child’s growth. A proud mum to toddler twins, Lauren loves travelling and exploring new places. Her passion and care make a lasting difference for our children and families.

Sarah holds a Certificate III in Early Childhood and has over five years of experience in the industry. She loves nurturing children during their early years and watching their personalities blossom. As the service’s Sleep Champion, Sarah takes pride in creating calm, comforting rest routines that help every child feel safe and settled. Outside of work, she enjoys going on outings, sightseeing, and discovering new places with friends and family.

No Bond or Enrolment Fee – Just Two Weeks' Fees in Advance

Story House Early Learning does not require families to pay a bond or enrolment fee when enrolling your child, however there is a requirement for childcare fees to remain two weeks in advance at all times.

Our service offers a curriculum inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), tailored to each age group. Programs include nature-based experiences, art activities, STEAM and a school readiness curriculum.

Families consistently praise our service for our nurturing environment, dedicated staff, and high quality care.

Story House Early Learning’s daily fee includes meals, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, learning programs, extracurricular activities, digital updates, and supportive care essentials. Everything is designed to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for your child’s growth.

We use the Storypark app as our primary communication tool, providing families with real-time updates on their child’s day, learning journey, and development. Rest Easy, Sleep Safe — The Story House Way

Safe Sleep

Story House Early Learning prioritises children’s well-being ensuring each child’s comfort and safety during rest times. Educators are trained to implement safe sleep practices, adhering to guidelines from Red Nose Australia and the National Quality Standards. 

Our policy emphasises individual sleep needs, providing appropriate opportunities for rest and relaxation in a secure environment. By maintaining consistent routines and environments, Story House supports healthy sleep habits, fostering a nurturing atmosphere conducive to each child’s development.

Additionally, through the Sleep Smart program, educators receive expert guidance to enhance sleep practices, further ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
