Experiencing Japanese Culture and Language at Story House Roma St

Child engaged with craft during Japanese lessons at Story Hous Childcare

At Story House Early Learning Roma Street we hold weekly Japanese classes through our learning partners at Orizuru Japanese Language and Culture.

We are very fortunate to have amazing teachers Aya and Chika come in and share their wonderful culture with us every Thursday.  They expose the children to different cultural practices using an array of activities including;

  • Arts & crafts
  • Japanese language
  • Traditional songs
  • Origami (Japanese paper craft)
  • Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy)
  • Story time & games

Aya & Chika work alongside our educators to share their love of Japanese culture with our children.

Origami and Shodo in particular are fun activities that can also have some additional benefits. They can help developmentally with hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and mental concentration.  And they can also provide a calming and relaxing environment.

Story House Roma Street offers Japanese classes to our child care children at no extra cost. If you would like more information regarding Japanese program or our centre, please contact us.

We are a small, boutique child care in the heart of Brisbane City serving families living and working in the CBD.
