What led you to a career in the childcare industry?
I have always taken an interest in caring for others, especially young children. I started off being a casual babysitter before becoming a nanny which then led me to further my skill set by completing my Diploma in Early Childhood. Whilst studying I worked part time and then full time as this allowed me to put my training and knowledge into practice. I have always had a passion to work with children, to watch them learn, develop and grow is what makes my job so rewarding.
What are your favourite memories within the workspace?
Meeting the new families as their children begin their learning journey. Watching the educators as they prepare and set up there rooms for the year.
Who Inspires you and why?
My inspiration comes from my husband, my family, my friends, my co workers, the families and of course the children. They push me to always do my best as I continue to grow and develop more knowledge within the industry.
What are you passionate about?
The children – The moment by moment interactions with children that make them feel loved and cared for and help develop who they become. Educators – Watching them focus on the individuality of each child and watching them make each child and each other feel like they belong. Families – Chatting and endless open communication about there child/children along with feedback
What type of leadership style do you have?
Hands on- Being motivated and always happy to help out and lend a hand (even if that means changing a dirty nappy). Efficiency: Always on time Task oriented: Always making sure tasks are completed efficiently
What makes your service such an amazing service?
Families, Educators, Community and most importantly the children and being able to make a difference in every child’s growth and development Having the support system from head office which allows me a a service manager to make decisions and always know that there is support.
What are your goals for the service over the next 12 months?
Continuing to work hard and gain more knowledge and experience as a service manager. Always maintain the communication with families and educators and for them to know that they can come to me for anything. Continue to try different approaches for family feedback . To have continuous good quality relationships with educators. Gain more community involvement.
