What led you to a career in the childcare industry?
For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to work with children. After leaving school, many years ago, I spent the day in a small service in the Blue Mountains and I haven’t looked back. I still love going in and spending my days with the children, families and educators. No day is ever the same and each day is an opportunity to learn something new.
What are your favourite memories within the workspace?
Becoming service manager is definitely one of my favourite memories from the past few months. It is a wonderful opportunity that I am looking forward to seeing where my new adventure takes me and the service.
Who Inspires you and why?
The children I care for inspire me. I am inspired by the way children look at the world and the things we can learn as adults from children.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about supporting children on their individual learning journeys through secure attachments and positive meaningful relationships.
What type of leadership style do you have?
At this stage I am still developing my leadership style however I aim to lead with a collaborative approach that mentors and inspires those around me to grow.
What makes your service such an amazing service?
My work space is definitely unique. Being an old church it is one of a kind that offers many additional touches. We have a large outdoor, natural environment. Close to parks, the local pool, train bridge and the town centre.
We are able to incorporate many wonderful experiences and opportunities within our program as we have many local resources so close to us.
What are your goals for the service over the next 12 months?
I have so many goals that I would like to achieve for the service over the next 12months. However I believe we are starting from the ground and working up, implementing a strong foundation to build on in the future. In 12months time I would like to see the service provide unique oportunities that stem from the foundation we have developed.
