MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER
Welcome to Story House Early Learning, Epping!
My name is Shamona Verma. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services. I also hold a Bachelors degree in Education from overseas and have been teaching children of varied age groups in India. I moved to Australia with my husband and two beautiful children, in 2011. I’ve always been passionate about educating children and caring for them, therefore decided to study Children’s Services.
I began my career in Early Childhood Education in Australia by completing Certificate lll in Children’s Services, and worked as an Assistant at Goodstart Early Learning. While working at Goodstart, I gained hands on knowledge of stages of development of early childhood and decided to work towards a Diploma qualification. After accomplishing my Diploma in Children’s Services, I took up a role of a Qualified Assistant with Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS), and soon stepped up to the position of Room Leader for children under three years of age.
In year 2017, I got a chance to assistant the Centre Director and was responsible for running the centre in absence of the Centre Director. Later during the year, I got appointed as the Educational Leader at the service. In this role, I developed an in depth knowledge of documenting children’s learning and mentored the team of educators in developing and implementing a quality educational program for the children.
My personal philosophy is greatly inspired by Reggio Emilia approach. I advocate providing stimulating but open-ended learning environments and then putting the children in the driver’s seat and watching them steer through the learning experiences in their own unique way.

We believe that the value of play is of utmost importance to children as it is their way of learning about their world. While children play they are able to experiement with new ideas, test theories and their understanding of concepts, express their creative ability, release their emotions and share their feelings. While engaging in play children are developing across all domains and creating the building blocks for their future.
We partner with you to provide a safe, quality, family-centred learning environment where every child is respected and nurtured. We continually develop our skills and explore new ways to enrich your child’s early learning experience.
Indoor and outdoor play based experiences are an integral part of our program. Educators plan a diverse range of experiences to create opportunities for your child in both structured and spontaneous play.
Our programs are inspired by the wisdom and teachings of early childhood theorists and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and aim to develop children’s emotional, social and cognitive intelligence.
The Kindergarten curriculum continues to emphasise play based learning, however offers additional intentional learning times where the focus is on literacy and numeracy, socialisation, self-regulation and independence.
